With the philosophy that every part may be her big chance, Ann makes a valiant effort to learn to roller-skate to get a part in a soft-drink (called Twinkie) commercial.

So, i just had some photos published in this online project. The online artist's gallery is here:

o.k., o.k. find me in gallery 18, i think. i am beside the woman peeling her face off...
very interesting content in this project, as i said.
some of it is ummm.. a LOT graphic.

Here is the curator's statement:

Perhaps nowhere so prominently as in photography, the boundaries between art and entertainment have eroded. The question is: what defines photography in the 21st century...

Today everybody has access to a camera and the internet, images of private environements have become part of our everyday language. Individuals are reinforcing their own identity.

The photographer, tired of 'creating' a fake world of beauty and stereotypes, turns the camera to him/herself and starts documenting his/her life. Little by little the photographer becomes obsessed with this documentation process and starts to spice up their life; making things happen just to take the photo. Suddenly, he is 'performing' in front of an audience (who will view the pictures). A new 'world' has been created, between 'real' life and the imaginary. And photography becomes not the final documentation, but the cause of the actions. Or are we all performing when placed in front of a snappy camera when on holidays, celebrations or everyday events?

In 'INTIMACY (human people)' I want to create a photographic series based on the moment between the impulse and the action. That's the dramatic instant when something is about to happen, the moment between cause and consequence, the moment in which a decision is taken.
I want to provoke situations with voluntary members of the public and friends. By staging a given moment for the photos, we will be creating a reality. Click!

In 'INTIMACY (human people)' the boundaries between photographer / performer / model / reality and fiction become clearly blurred.

With this project I will undertake a public process of research and creation, from the 'online invited artists gallery' to an online document of its evolution (sketches, participants, ideas, locations, test-shoots, etc...). Resulting in a public photographic exhibition of 10 big images+ a publication about the full project.

The aim of this project is to develop a 'personal aesthetic' in which the final images may not have easy cultural references to be catalogued as a genre but as 'loose stills' of a bigger story The story of our desires, fears, privacy: our inner everyday story.
