watch, look, peer, wonder, smile
o.k. now, i have a direct order for you, which must be carried out right away. go see miranda july's somewhat recent film release, "me and you and everyone we know." it was out june 17th in new york, and now it is everywhere. so you have no excuse.
you should do this for 2 reasons:
1) ))< >(( and that's all i will say...
2) it's fucking fabulous. i saw it this tuesday, i saw it last tuesday, and i could imagine seeing it again. it's creative, surprising, beautiful, sad, and totally funny all at the same time. it demands adjectives from all sides of the spectrum.
so stop reading and go! and get back to me with your thoughts.
RANDOM FACT ABOUT ME: and this is a deep, dark, dirty secret. i am blushing as i write: i watch those "idol" shows- you know, like "american idol." shhhhhh... don't repeat this info to anyone. and you may only alter your opinion of me just a little bit, and not a whole bunch. o.k.? i do smart things too.

My moment of ignominy came when I discovered that Fox were showing a reality show with Gordon Ramsey called "Hells Kitchen", and I believe I was one of only 7 viewers of the show, but I enjoyed it very much. Also, what's with having to feel ignominious to admit watching/enjoying telly now and again? I always love hearing the kid in the Ramones t-shirt and New Balance Classics drinking Jack Daniels and Coke talk about how s/he doesn't even own a telly because s/he doesn't like to have her life commodified and her decisions made for her by corporate America.
Riiiiiight....
Television rules the nation. Do as you please. We're all just vibrating strings waiting for a slight instability to obliterate all life as we know it anyway.
Also checking in to assure you your readership have not completely disappeared. On that note, I wonder if you'd be willing to comment on the near-cultish following you seem to amass from the male population in this city. What's (in your perception) the appeal?
(Read: Not being invective or otherwise suggesting there is no appeal, but just curious as to your impression of your putative fan club.)

"the near-cultish following you seem to amass from the male population in this city" ?? i love that you think that. it'd very sweet of you to say so, but i think a large exaggeration. very large.
this is what my-exboyfriend had to say: "reading thru bits of your blog - very clever. Sharp and well, sexy at times to - you've really found some outlets for that overflowing creative person.."
i don't know. i think people maybe like honesty, and someone who blurts out whatever for the sake of self-expression and other people's entertainment, even if it makes an ass of herself.

Hmm, maybe. In any case, it reminds me of that bit from Eternal Sunshine where she talks about how blokes think she'll save them. To be honest, I cannot really tell whether you're "just a fucked up girl trying to get her own peace of mind" [paraphrase] or whether you actually would save somebody. It's the hopeless romantic side of you that throws off my assessment, because hopeless romanticism is unfathomable to me; explaining what it's like would probably be something like trying to explain the sensation of childbirth or menstrual cramping.
