tell me something

in my fridge are 3 mostly finished bottles of diet coke and one jug of pink lemonade, mixed 3 weeks ago.

i have been working 16 hours a day, stopping only briefly to run to the corner store to grab whatever food they stock-- not much. fudgesicles, alphaghettis, frozen vegetables and tomato soup are the present staples of my diet.

i ran out of gas today on my way home from the doctor-- the only thing that has been able to tear me away from my desk for the past 2 weeks or so. a couple of nice guys pushed me through the intersection. and then lucky me, i got to walk 10 blocks to a gas station. and back.

please save me. or at least give me some intonation for these pathetic sentences.

weird thing though, i'm actually pretty happy. i like being crazy busy. i like stress. just need to make it to a real grocery store and i'll probably be o.k.

BORING, i know. tell me something exciting so i can live vicariously.

Your story is yet another piece in the 'you remind me so much of Catherine that it's sort of eerie'. Are you pleased with that sort of life? I suppose that's the sort of question that I'd pose to myself everyday I did something like that. She's (quite against her better sensibilities) an attorney, so she's not so pleased, although I daresay an artist-type like you might be doing something in your sixteen hour days that more resemble something you'd choose to do.

But, more excitingly, this so-called 'Catherine' has, admidst her workaholic semblance of a life, quite unexpectedly found love. So mutatis mutandis, perhaps you will too. Nothing vicarious about that.

(Please insert 'puzzle' before the full stop in the first sentence of that post.)

umm.. i'm a bit confused. who is catherine?

am i pleased with working 16 hours a day? not really. am i pleased with half that day that is art based, yes. and thus, i am pleased, in general. it all goes toward savings for the big plan that keeps me happy. i'll pull that one out of the vault in a little bit....

Oh, I don't expect you know Catherine. I'm just name-dropping in that presumptuous way that people sometimes do. You know, where you're projecting your belief that a person is cool so that it represents something like the proposition "in an ideal world, you and everybody else would know Catherine".

Big plans on the back burner are good, although they do lend themselves to vicarious living. On the other hand, I've been wondering if there is something to the whole "I'm gonna get my kicks before the whole shit-house goes up in flames" mentality, as Jim Morrison so quaintly put it. You know, since the meaning of life boils down to the fact that we're all nothing but strings vibrating on our D-Brane, waiting for another collision with another Brane to obliterate all life as we know it.

(Please feel free to ignore my officious insertion of theoretical physics into the dialogue.)
